'''Movement''' is the process of changing the place of nodes in a given syntactic structure. In the UNL<sup>arium</sup> framework, movement rules are used to deal with transformations that affect the surface structure of the sentence such as topicalization and passivization.

== Syntax ==
Movement rules are [[S-rules]] of the replace type, i.e.:
<RELATION> := <RELATION>;
Where the left-side <RELATION> is a [[Syntactic roles|syntactic relation]] that indicates the source position and the right-side relation is a relation that indicates the target position.

There are mainly two types of projection rules:
*Full movement, when the previous position is totally deleted;
*Trace movement, when a trace (a vestige) is left in the original position.

**The specifier of the verb is moved to the position of specifier of the inflectional phrase. The position of the specifier of the verb no longer exists.
