Effective date: October 23, 2025

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the UNL Archive website, services and content (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Definitions

  • "UNL" — Universal Networking Language (the subject and original body of materials preserved in the Archive).
  • "UNL Archive" or "we"/"us" — the private initiative that operates this repository.
  • "You" — any user or visitor of the Service.
  • "Materials" — documentation, code, data, images, papers, metadata and other resources preserved and made available through the Service.

3. Purpose and Scope

The UNL Archive is a repository dedicated to preserving and providing access to the materials produced by the Universal Networking Language (UNL), ensuring that the documentation and resources remain accessible for historical, academic, and technical reference. The Archive's purpose is archival preservation and public access for research, teaching, reference, and reuse under the terms described below.

4. Access and Use

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the Service and the Materials solely for lawful, non-commercial or commercial purposes consistent with the license terms described in Section 6 below.

You must not use the Service or Materials in a way that violates applicable law, infringes third-party rights, or interferes with the operation of the Service.

5. "As Is" Provision — No Further Development or Support

All materials hosted by the UNL Archive are provided "as is". The UNL Archive does not provide further development, updates, maintenance, or technical support for the hosted Materials beyond preservation and distribution. By using the Service and Materials you acknowledge and accept that:

  • Materials may be archived in their original form and may contain bugs, errors, omissions, or outdated information;
  • We do not guarantee fixes, enhancements, upgrades, or ongoing improvements to any Material; and
  • We do not provide technical support, warranties, or service-level commitments related to the Materials.

6. License & Reuse

Unless stated otherwise for a specific item, all Materials in the UNL Archive are released under the Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) Creative Commons license. That means:

  • You are free to share (copy and redistribute) and adapt (remix, transform, build upon) the Materials for any purpose, including commercial use;
  • You must give appropriate credit (attribution) to the original author(s) as specified by the particular item, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made;
  • If you remix, transform, or build upon the Materials, you must distribute your contributions under the same license (CC BY-SA) or a compatible open license;
  • The full license text and details are available at the Creative Commons website: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ (or later versions where applicable).

Where a particular item specifies additional or different licensing terms, those terms apply to that item.

7. Attribution Requirements

When you use Materials from the Archive you must provide clear attribution that includes at least:

  • The title of the material (if available);

8. Ownership and Intellectual Property

Ownership of the underlying intellectual property in each Material (including copyrights and moral rights) remains with the original rights holders unless otherwise stated. This Agreement does not transfer ownership of any Material to you. The Archive only provides access and a license consistent with the terms above.

9. No Affiliation with Prior Organizations

The UNL Archive is a private initiative and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or otherwise connected to the United Nations University, the UNDL Foundation, or any other organization, institution, project, or party that was previously involved in any UNL-related activities, unless expressly stated in a particular item's metadata. Any references to such organizations in archived Materials are part of the preserved content and do not imply current association.
